A sailing vacation has to be one of the best ways to spend a holiday since it provides such a unique and memorable experience. Despite the abundance of holiday possibilities, many of us spend a lot of time deliberating about which option will allow them to spend the most time relaxing and having fun with their loved ones. Sailing trips give a unique and unforgettable experience, with just a close gang of friends, that simply cannot be found in any other kind of vacation.

Not only do they let you relax away from the masses, but they also give you the opportunity to holiday like a celebrity, with many of them taking to instagram to show off their perfect yacht and catamaran selfies.  The sunset over the deep blue sea can provide the perfect backdrop to a selfie that goes viral, and draw envy (and a lot of likes) from all your followers.

Finding the Perfect Boat

There are many platforms that allow you to search for your ideal boat, with many offering real-time pricing and availability.  If in doubt, ask the experts – and many have live chat to make things super simple.

But where do you start when trying to book a yacht charter vacation?  The first thing you need to choose is whether to party on a yacht or a catamaran.

Yacht or Catamaran

In many regions of the world, notably Australia and the Caribbean, catamarans such as the Lagoon 42 luxury catamaran have been the most popular choice for years. Catamarans’ popularity has soared because to their simplicity of use; these days, you’re more likely to see catamarans than monohulls out on the water. As a result, many people choose to spend their sailing vacations on catamarans rather than monohulls – there is just so much more space on board

.

The primary advantage of catamarans over yachts is their increased steadiness in waves. Due to the unpredictability of the deep sea’s weather, a catamaran is the safer option for a holiday on the water than a yacht. Catamarans are exceptionally stable, so you and your loved ones can continue to enjoy your holiday without worrying about being thrown around by the waves.  But conversely, if you’re after an authentic sailing experience, with the boat keeling over as you crash through the waves, it’s a yacht you want to be on.

Catamarans’ added stability makes them an ideal choice for non-sailors and for families with young children, who dislike being confined in small spaces. Catamarans are less daunting for inexperienced sailors to learn how to handle and sail.

Catamarans are also much swifter – which makes sense, as they have two engines. They’re the fastest way to get to your destination. Experts agree that, on average, a catamaran is around 20% faster than a monohull. One of the nicest aspects that the vast majority of tourists love is that these are being developed with smaller keels, which improves the closed-hull performance.

Packing for your Trip

Don’t overcomplicate it!  When packing for a trip, it’s a good idea to make things as basic as possible in your rucksack. You can take a lot of stuff with you, but you should prioritise taking just what you really need. Since you’ll be spending most of your time in your swimwear or shorts and T-shirts, packing a lot of clothes seems like a waste of space. Pick a tote large enough to hold all of these items, and you’ll have a much simpler time improving the situation.

Second, have your identification, cash, and credit cards prepared. Leaving your own nation for a sailing holiday means you’ll need to prove to authorities that your trip will not include any unlawful activity. This is why it is usually a good idea to get in touch with your country’s emigration office ahead of time to ensure a problem-free departure. This way, you won’t have to worry about anything while on vacation.

Third, bring appropriate clothing. The clothing you bring on your sailing trip will be among the most used items, so it’s crucial to make sure you have plenty of good options. While you’re out at sea, you’ll probably spend most of your time in your swimsuit. However, if you plan on visiting any clubs, restaurants, or markets while you’re on land, it’s a good idea to pack some casual clothing that will help you maintain a modest appearance. You should bring some shorts and T-shirts so that you may feel comfortable and relaxed while on vacation.

Fourth, always use sun protection. When on a sailing trip, the best thing to do is lie out in the sun and admire the scenery. Therefore, sunburn is likely, and it may dampen your fun. Protect your skin from the sun by slathering with the right lotion.
