We all get comfortable in our day-to-day lives. We find a job we enjoy (or at least don’t hate), make friends, and settle into a routine. But sometimes, that routine can become a bit too comfortable—and that’s when it might be time for a change.

If you’re feeling stuck in a rut, here are some signs that it might be time to make some changes to your lifestyle.

1. You’re always tired

If you’re constantly dragging yourself out of bed in the morning and relying on coffee (or energy drinks) to get through the day, that’s a sign that your lifestyle might be unsustainable in the long run.

Sure, we all have the occasional late night or early morning, but if you’re constantly running on empty, it’s time to take a step back and reassess how you’re spending your days and nights.

Maybe you need to cut back on alcohol or late-night snacking, or maybe you need to start going to bed earlier so you can get enough rest. Whatever the case may be, if you’re always tired, it’s time for a change.

2. You have no motivation

Another sign that it might be time for a healthy lifestyle change is if you find yourself having trouble mustering up the motivation to do anything—including things you used to enjoy.

If going to your job feels like trudging through quicksand or if completing simple tasks around the house has become an insurmountable challenge, it’s time to take a look at how you’re living your life. It could be that you need more excitement in your life, or more structure, or more down time. Whatever the case may be, a lack of motivation is a clear sign that something needs to change.

3. You’re unhappy with your appearance

We all have days (or even weeks) where we feel like we don’t look our best. But if you find yourself unhappy with your appearance on a regular basis, it could be because your lifestyle isn’t supporting good health and wellness habits.

If you want to make changes to your appearance, it’s important to first assess your lifestyle—are you eating healthy foods? Are you getting enough exercise? Are you getting enough sleep? Making changes in these areas can help improve not only the way you look but also the way you feel.

4. You don’t have any hobbies

Do you ever feel like there’s nothing to do on the weekends? Or like you don’t really have anyone to call if you want to hang out? These are both signs that your current lifestyle might not be providing enough fulfilment outside of work or school.

It’s important to have hobbies and interests outside of your job or studies so that you can recharge and relax—otherwise, burnout is inevitable.

Additionally, humans are social creatures—we need companionship and meaningful interactions with others in order to thrive. If your current lifestyle isn’t providing enough opportunities for socialisation, it might be time for a change.
