According to the report of the National Institute of Mental Health, more than 17 million teenagers living in the United States are under one of the major types of chronic depression.

Physical activities are being recognized as having the potential of decreasing the risk of many diseases in which mental illness also included. Children who use to engage in regular physical activities or take part in sports activities are found to be more mentally healthy with lower chances of anxiety and depression.

Teenagers with the age group of 14-15 in the year of 1996 to 2009 reported with the symptoms of chronic depression, surveyed by the National Longitudinal Survey of Children and Youth (NLSCY).

As a fact, depression leads to shortening the life of the patient, and his life no more remains worthwhile, even the modest treatments don’t work as effectively. However, researchers from the world’s renowned universities are continuously working towards finding what leads to depression at such an early age and how these chronic diseases can be reduced from flourishing between children.

One major antidote found meanwhile is that physical activities for one to two hours a day can prove to be a miracle for depression suffering patients. It is mandatory for children to involve themselves in some physical activities along with their studies.

In research conduct by the Massachusetts General Hospital, shows that people who release their sweats for several hours each week seem to have a less future risk of suffering from any depression.

Karmel Choi, a researcher on public health, stated that “Our findings strongly suggest that, when it comes to depression, genes are not destiny and that being physically active has the potential to neutralize the added risk of future episodes in individuals who are genetically vulnerable,”

Hence, to improve our mental health and for the people who are suffering from such dreadful diseases, doing physical exercises may lead to reduce symptoms of depressions.
